Casino Crime News Roundup: Meth, Ammo Found at California Casino Lot

On Saturday, law enforcement discovered more than two ounces of suspected methamphetamine (meth) along with various rounds of ammunition in a parking area at California's Win-River Resort & Casino. 

The finding resulted in the apprehensions of Edward Leroy Gravelle, 66, and Megan Marie Slack, 38, both from Redding, Calif., as reported by California TV channel KNVN. 

Deputies from the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office reported that Gravelle was listed on a post release community supervision (PRCS) list for being an individual prohibited from possessing a firearm, according to KNVN. 

Authorities reported that Gravelle was arrested for breaching the PRCS regulations after deputies discovered the ammunition. He was additionally charged with having a controlled substance with the intent to sell, along with a second drug-related charge. Slack was detained for being impaired by a controlled substance and obstructing/resisting deputies. 

The casino in Redding, Calif. is situated approximately 157 miles to the north of Sacramento, Calif. 

Ongoing Investigation into Illegal Gambling in Florida 

A Florida arcade in West Palm Beach was raided on Thursday as part of a continuing investigation into illegal gaming, according to a news report. 

On Thursday, Florida's WPTV reported that the VIP Sweepstakes arcade was investigated. A witness informed the TV station that the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) seized over 50 gambling machines. 

The inquiry is thought to be linked to Operations Fools Treasure, initiated in 2022, targeting companies that are supposedly offering unlawful gambling services. 

Several businesses were shut down as a result of the inquiry. WPTV identified them as:

• SWFL Center LLC, DBA: VIP Sweepstakes (JJE Technologies, DBA: Treasure Hunt Arcade) – West Palm Beach, FL
• Gold Wizards LLC (FTP Technologies LLC, DBA: Treasure Hunters Arcade & Prestige Sweepstakes) – Fort Pierce, FL
• Golden Dreams Entertainment LLC (CJJ Technologies LLC, DBA: Pharaoh’s Treasure Arcade) – Vero Beach, FL
• Florida Game Association LLC, DBA: Arcadia Arcade (AMGP Enterprises LLC) – Zephyrhills, FL

According to the report, Ritesh Patel and Nova Roffey were charged with running unlawful gambling establishments and engaging in money laundering. They recently showed up in a local court and are confronting 25 allegations of illegal possession of slot machines along with other gambling-related offenses. They have not yet submitted their pleas regarding the charges. 

It is probable that additional suspects will face charges. According to WPTV, five arrest warrants and nine search warrants were authorized as a component of the investigation. 

The report noted that the businesses received slot machines from Grandview Products, Inc. and GV Products, LLC.
